Altar Servers assist the community at worship. The servers include boys and girls from fourth grade through college. In addition to service at liturgies, the altar servers participate in service projects and provide assistance at parish and social functions.
Training is provided.
Why Become an Altar Server?
By becoming an altar server, you begin to learn more about the things that happen during Mass and why. You pay more attention to the whole Mass to help you remember where your part fits in. By focusing and understanding what’s going on, the Mass can lead you into a much deeper relationship with God, and you feel the impact of Mass far greater. You will also meet up with many other servers when you serve at Mass, wonderful people you would probably meet nowhere else. Altar serving will teach you many valuable life skills, such as reverence, communication, teamwork, punctuality, self-confidence, perceiving what needs to be done and doing it, and much more! You are supported by your fellow servers and the ministry directors, and are greatly appreciated by the congregation!
Requirements are: 1) 4th grade and up, and 2) already had first communion.
