When St. Justin was first formed in 1951, Msgr. Mentasti asked the ladies to form a group. As they were building the church, they would be building a parish of friends. Some 75 years later, our group is dedicated to service, community and friendship.
The mission of this organization is to further the spiritual and social welfare of St. Justin Parish. Any woman desiring to belong may become a member.
We Pray Together:
Along with praying at each meeting, we honor our deceased members with a rosary once a year and celebrate a Lenten service.We Work Together:
Works with the Stablemates on fund raising and community building dinners each year
Hosts at least one Coffee and Donuts Sunday and Outreach Dinner Sunday each year
Helps with annual parish events such as the Parish Picnic and Founders Day celebrations
Conducts an annual Rummage Sale in the spring to raise money for parish organizations
Supports the Diocesan Layette Program with a baby items drive once a year
Supports the JW House with food donations and sponsors a dinner once a year
Supports the Bill Wilson Center with sock donations throughout the year
We Play Together:
The Guild schedules a walk/hike once a month on a Saturday morning. These are about one hour in duration and cover around 2 miles total. We have explored urban areas in Santa Clara and San Jose as well as nature hikes under 10 miles from St Justin Parish. These activities allow members to enjoy our beautiful valley as well as spending time with friends.
The Guild has a monthly Book Club. This is another venue for social connection, reading motivation, and interesting discussions.
Guild meetings help us stay organized for all our parish outreach areas. At any given meeting our members can be found listening to speakers about health and safety, playing trivia games based on a monthly theme, honoring members birthdays, exchanging/stealing gifts at Christmas, sharing delicious foods from around the world.
Guild members are involved in all ministries of St Justin Parish. Members help the parish to honor the past, work in the present and help plan for the future.
